Description
IC210 The American Experience 3 credits
Examines, from an interdisciplinary perspective, selected aspects of the American experience.
Through the critical interpretation of texts and other forms of cultural expression, it
balances the notion of a common national character against the idea that group diversity and
individual identity were equally significant factors in producing the American experience. The
course also analyzes the dynamic interchange between unity and diversity in contemporary
American culture and concludes with views of the American experience from students? own
lives. Prerequisites: completion of IC101, IC105, IC106 or permission of Core Curriculum Administrator
and sophomore class standing.
