MC346 Media and the Environment 3 credits
This course seeks to foster a greater appreciation for, and deeper understanding of, media
as they reflect on environmental issues as well as influence them. It explores relationships
between individuals, media and mediated realities, the physical environment, and society
within the broader field of environmental communication. The course examines representations
of the environment, news coverage of environmental issues, effects of media use on
environmental attitudes, and issue sof consumerism. Prerequisite: MC100 or permission of the
instructor.
