Description
PO312 American Political Thought 3 credits
Explores the development of political ideas in the United States over the course of four hundred
years, from the seventeenth to the late twentieth centuries. The knowledge of the ideas
of the statesmen who were the architects of the American system of government is essential
if we are to achieve an understanding of present institutions and practices. However, we will
also study the writings of others who engage the system as scholars and/or political actors.
Prerequisite: any PO class or GLE120.
